  1. Kevin spacey is 55. Robin Wright is 48. Yet, when you make the description of the leading actors you mention only HER age describing her has “older”. If, we as viewers, cannot stop making misogynist and sexist comments about the women in film and tv then we cannot expect the indutry will ever change. You know, also men get “older” ..and that’s fine! But maybe you’ve watched too many movies where men in their 50 are paired when barely teenagers girls.

    1. Although I agree with your sentiments that woman in Hollywood are seen as having an “expiration date” and that there is a difference in views toward relationships between older men and younger woman and relationships between younger men and older woman (which is usually seen as taboo), I don’t think the writer here is meaning to be misogynistic.

    2. Oops–just saw this comment. I certainly wasn’t meaning to be misogynist, and in fact was not being misogynist. I mean only to point out a trend in casting for “prestige” dramas: see also Patricia Arquette on Boardwalk Empire, Jessica Lange on American Horror Story, Julianna Margulies on The Good Wife, etc. Age is not remarkable in Kevin Spacey’s case because old white men get prime acting gigs all the time. I love that all these women and more are getting cast more frequently and prominently, and it is a trend that I very much hope continues!
